Craft Classes in South Tipperary 2011

Great Opportunity to get Crafty in the New Year!
• Subsidised craft classes starting all over Tipperary from January to April

The New Year is a great time to learn new skills. A series of over 30 craft workshops will be held all over the county to give people the opportunity to try their hand at something different. Autumn Craft Fair, Wexford! 16/10/2010

We are holding an Autumn Craft Fair for County Wexford at the beautiful ‘Sean Og’s’ Hotel, Kilmuckridge, Gorey, Wexford on the 16th October 2010. Starting at 10am and finishing at 5pm. We are aiming for prestigious crafters who can put themselves forward and promote local crafts and products/services.
We have spaces for 40 crafters and aim not to duplicate the products that each exhibitor sells, giving each crafter the opportunity to really promote their products. This will be heavily supported by the press, and an advertising and marketing campaign.
Exhibitor applications will be dealt with on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The cost is €30 per rectangular stall (8ft 2), €40 per circular display stall (6ft) and €20 if you wish to bring your own table (no bigger than 2ft), all of which is payable on booking. Should you be interested in taking a stall at the Wexford’s Autumn Craft Fair please complete the form attached. We will review each applicant and get back to you ASAP to confirm your booking, to which the fee must then be paid.
This is a great opportunity to show people what Wexford has to offer. If you require any additional information please feel free to contact me on the number below or reply to this email.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Major Boost Given To Craft Industry in Tipperary

The Craft Granary, based in Cahir, has received a major boost for craft workers in the county from The South Tipperary Development Company. The Craft Granary applied for funding to run a series of craft workshops in Clonmel, Cahir, Cashel, Carrick On Suir, Fethard and Tipperary town. The workshops will be held in the autumn and will focus on teaching traditional and contemporary crafts.
“We are thrilled with this support for our local craft industry” said Helen Shanahan, Manager of The Craft Granary. “It's tough out there for people working in craft to make a living. This opportunity to get paid work in passing on their skills is a major coup for them”.
The Craft Granary are now looking for local crafts people both amateur and professional who would be interested in teaching their craft to others. Any craft will be considered. No teaching qualifications are required and the rate of pay will be €45 per hour. If you are interested in getting involved and want to find out more please contact Alan Norris on 052 7441473 or e-mail projects@craftgranary.com

White Castle Fair

White Castle is an exciting new opportunity for artisans and craft workers to sell their quality produce in the unique and historic environment of White Castle, Athy, County Kildare. Opening May 2010

The owner of this impressive venue asked me to visit the Castle and give my opinion on how an artisan & craft fair would work there. The building itself and it’s location lends very well to the idea and with the National & European Ploughing Championships being held in Athy Sep 21st to 23rd this year along with the TriAthy June 5th and 6th and the twentieth Athy Bluegrass Festival 8th to 11th July there will be no shortage of visitors to the town.

If you are interested in taking a space then please contact me to register your interest. The owner has not started to allocate spaces yet but will soon. I think that there will be great interest in this venue.

White Castle is situated only 45 minutes drive from Dublin in the heart of one of Ireland’s most historic towns – Athy, County Kildare. A spectacular medieval style marquee on the Castle grounds will form the heart of the Fair which will open every Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm

Period style entertainment will be supplied by local actors and musicians creating an unforgettable experience for all who visit.

White Castle Fair will be advertised nationally through press and radio to generate awareness of this great family day out.

Open Air Market in Durrow Wednesday 17th March from 11.00am to 4.00pm. I have attended a number of Markets in Durrow over the past few years and have always thoroughly enjoyed them. There has always been a great atmosphere and they are always very well supported.

This year the Market will be situated along the walls of the Castle, the famous non-motorised parade will begin at 2.00pm and ends at the location of the Market to be followed by Leprechaun Racing!

The cost is €10 per stand and €20 if your require electricity. You will need to supply your own cover, tables, chairs etc.

There are a very limited number of spaces remaining.

If you are interested please contact Delphine Lawlor at delphinepilard@yahoo.co.uk

Craft Networks

There are many benefits of being a member of a Craft Network, hearing about new opportunities, receiving group discounts at events, sharing workloads, having the support of likeminded people etc.

We are looking to help establish a number of local Craft Networks in the South East and are eager to hear from Craft Workers interested in joining.

Each Network will of course have their own goals; however we would like to help all of the Networks to work towards attending Showcase Ireland and/or the Ploughing Championships and hosting their own Craft Fair.

Another advantage of being a member of a Craft Network is that of the possible financial support of the Crafts Council of Ireland through their Guilds, Associations, Networks & Societies (GANS) Support Scheme. This support is offered on an annual basis and this year’s closing date is March 31st.

If you are interested in becoming a member of a Craft Network then please contact Teresa as soon as possible.
